FAQ
Common questions about YayTip, tipping, fees, and settlement.
Getting Started
What is YayTip?
YayTip is a cryptocurrency tipping platform. You can send crypto tips to anyone using their email, GitHub username, X handle, EVM wallet address, or Mixin ID — even if they've never used YayTip before.
Do I need an account to send a tip?
No. Anyone can send a tip by visiting a tip page or identity link. Tippers pay directly through MixPay — no signup required.
Do I need an account to receive tips?
Not initially. When someone tips your identity (email, GitHub, etc.), an identity record is created and funds are custodied. You'll need to sign up and claim the identity to configure a wallet and receive settlement.
Tips & Payments
What cryptocurrencies can I tip with?
Tippers can pay with any of 60+ cryptocurrencies supported by MixPay, including BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, and many more.
Is there a minimum or maximum tip amount?
The minimum tip is $0.01 and the maximum is $1,000 per transaction. These limits are set by MixPay.
What happens if I tip someone who doesn't have a YayTip account?
That's the magic of Tip Anyone! The funds are safely custodied until the recipient claims their identity by signing up and authenticating with the matching provider (e.g., their GitHub account). They'll also receive an email notification.
Can I get a refund on a tip?
Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible once confirmed. Tips cannot be refunded after payment is processed. Please double-check the recipient before tipping.
Fees & Settlement
What are the fees?
YayTip charges a 8% platform fee on tips received. This is deducted before settlement. Sending a tip is free — the tipper pays exactly what they choose. MixPay charges 0% merchant fee.
How does settlement work?
When a tip is paid, the settlement process begins automatically. Your tip is converted to your preferred cryptocurrency and sent to your configured wallet. Settlement is asynchronous — it may take a few minutes depending on network conditions.
What chains can I settle to?
You can settle to Mixin Network (instant, gasless), Arbitrum, Base, or Polygon. Each has different token options. You can configure your preferred chain and token per identity.
Do I need to pay gas fees?
If you settle to an EVM chain (Arbitrum, Base, Polygon), network gas fees apply. Mixin settlements are instant and gasless.
Account & Security
How do I sign up?
You can sign up using GitHub, Google, X (Twitter), Mixin, email, or an EVM wallet (via SIWE). Go to the login page and choose your preferred method.
Can I link multiple identities to one account?
Yes. You can link GitHub, X, Google, email, EVM, and Mixin identities to a single account. This lets you receive tips sent to any of your identities.
Is my wallet address public?
Your configured wallet address is used only for settlement and is not displayed on your public tip page. However, settlement transactions are recorded on public blockchains and are publicly visible.
How do I delete my account?
Contact us at hello@yaytip.com to request account deletion. We'll remove your personal information within 30 days. Note that blockchain transaction records cannot be deleted.
